JULIA AURORA DILL
Harmonica player and vocalist Julia Aurora Dill has performed with Sweetwater Holler since founding the band in 2009. She also plays rhythm guitar, and sings lead and harmony.
Forged south of St. Louis, in mining country and the Missouri Ozarks, Sweetwater Holler performs dance music and classic favorites with rich vocals, smooth harmonies and dynamic musicianship. Covering classic and southern rock, blues and country, the seasoned band showcases award-winning fiddle player Justin Dill on vocals, fiddle and rhythm guitar; Julia Dill on vocals, harmonica and rhythm guitar; soloist extraordinaire BJ “Lightning-Hands” Bill Villmer on lead guitar; the “The Ace of Bass” David Solomon on bass; and award-winning broadcaster Mike Ramsey on percussion and vocals.
Julia has been playing and singing for as long as she can remember. Her father and grandfather were also harmonica players, and her parents gave her a harmonica as a child. She says her family had a guitar as well, and musician friends would visit and play and sing on their front porch. In 2013, she was featured on the Chevy Music Showcase during her time in the band Smokey Lonesome with platinum award-winning singer songwriter Curtis Lance. In 2020, Sweetwater Holler was chosen to perform at the Missouri state Capitol’s Salute to America celebration. Her favorite genres are country, rock, blues, bluegrass and folk. Artistic influences on the harmonica include Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson and Terry McMillan.
